Castrol cast iron sign for the motorcycle racing fans. Charles Wakefield left his job at the Vacuum Oil Company to create his own lubricants brand called Castrol. Mr Wakefield had a great interest in new automobiles and aeroplanes, creating products for both.
Eventually, Mr Wakefield led into the world of sponsorship and the Castrol name is seen associated with racing events worldwide.
The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy began in 1907 and is regarded as the most dangerous motorsport in the world, with multiple deaths since it began.
